As a Japanese American woman, I think the majority of us agree that there is nothing inherently wrong if ones first exposure to anything Japanese was anime. After all, entertainment is supposed to move you. So, I feel like, if a kid's childhood love of an anime inspired them to learn about Japan in ACTUALITY, that is a wonderful thing. If Japan seems like a great place, wonderful. The problem with weaboos is that they don't bother learning about Japanese humanity - they'd rather make us cartoons
